EPC Cost Effective Improvement Rating (EPC Scotland)

"SBEM does not calculate the potential improved rating with recommendations. The rating with ""cost effective improvements"" which appears on EPCs for Scotland refers to its corresponding user defined field within Lifespan SBEM: ""EPC Rating with Improvements Implemented (kgCO2/m² emissions)"". This can be found in the ""Project Settings"" > ""Project details"" screen within the software. The term ""cost effective improvements"" is not clearly defined in available documentation, however the document ""SBSA EPC Overview Leaflet"", available through the downloads section, would imply that these may include those listed in the Recommendations Report as having a short term payback period and possibly some of those listed in the medium term pay back section. As the recommendations themselves may be fairly difficult to model within SBEM itself e.g. ""Carry out a pressure test, identify and treat identified air leakage. Enter result in EPC calculation"" the extent of this is largely left up to the user. The suggested approach to facilitate this process within the software is to make a copy of the original survey, input the recommendations as listed on the original recommendations report and re-run the calculation. The amended rating should then be input in the ""cost effective improvements"" field as detailed above. The report must then be updated by pressing the ""Update Recommendations Report"" button on the recommendations screen.
